American and European Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Region Locked
was a bit surprised when we didn’t get any silly launch extravaganzas (http://goo.gl/1X1iL) for the Note 3, but it seems Samsung was saving all its stupidity for this.
Seems it’s not just the Note 3, but the newer batch of European and American Galaxy S4 phones are “region locked” as well. If this is true and you’ve bought a Samsung phone in Europe or America recently, and then travel outside your region, you can’t put a local SIM into your phone. Instead you have to either pay your home telcos roaming charges or bring another phone along.
Fortunately, the Asia-Pacific models are not region locked — there’s no sticker on the box and someone has tested a local unit with a UK SIM. However, I can see how this will affect sales of the Note 3 in Europe and America … and maybe even create a market for grey exports from here.
Duh.

Seriously, Samsung? Sorry, roamers, but the new Galaxy Note 3 is region-locked
