MythTV: XMLTV for UniFi IPTV channels

Managed to squeeze some time over the weekend to start work on an XMLTV grabber for UniFi. Right now I’ve just got channel declarations with no actual grabbers for the tv schedules yet, but it’s enough to feed into MythTV and have it recognize channels.

To get around potential clashes in numbering, I’ve renumbered my channels to 4 digits, 1nnn for astro channels, and 2yyy for UniFi channels. I can now just key in the appropriate channel number into mythtv, and it will choose the correct input and send the codes for the appropriate decoder down the IR blaster. No need to use the web-based remote unless I want to use video on demand or other interactive features.

Next weekend will try and hack some HTML parsers into it, and hopefully can get some schedules in. Then I can start recording programs again.

source code will hosted here if anybody wants it: http://goo.gl/Rx3S

Interestingly, on my wife’s new laptop with HDMI output, Ubuntu 10.10 allows you to choose HDMI for audio output from the GUI. Hopefully, it will do the same on my MythTV PC server as well.
