Jakarta River Cruise

Jakarta River CruiseManaged to get out today from the Best Western Hotel, Mangga Dua, despite the Jakarta Floods. Had to pay an exhorbitant rate for the transport, as no taxis would go to the hotel.

The flooded streets looked like rivers, but it was only about a foot deep; enough for an Avanza to clear. Turns out the flooding was just around the hotel only, and once we had cleared the Mangga Dua area, and entered Kemayoran, the roads were clear of water and traffic (except for a small stretch as we entered the highway to the airport).

The highway was jammed up, slightly slower than usual, but moving. It took slightly over an hour to get to the airport.

Moral of the Story: Even with the high speed internet, this hotel may not be the best place to stay during rainy season.
